Deborah Brown

Deborah Brown, the dynamic Principal of Theatre Works Studio, is a passionate advocate for education, dedicated to igniting the minds of young learners. A proud alumna of the University of Maryland with a Bachelor’s degree in History, she further honed her expertise with a Master’s degree in Teaching from Johns Hopkins University, equipping her with innovative strategies to inspire and empower students. Holding a K-8 teaching certificate from the State of Maryland, Deborah has also served as a classroom teacher within the Prince George's County Public School system, where she found joy in teaching economically underserved children.
Among her notable achievements, Deborah organized the first production of "Annie" at Ridgecrest Elementary, showcasing her commitment to fostering creativity and collaboration among students. Deborah champions holistic education, ensuring that every child achieves academic excellence while developing critical thinking and creativity. Under her vibrant leadership, Theatre Works Studio has flourished into a beacon of excellence, known for its engaging curriculum and commitment to student well-being.
Deborah's vision transcends traditional boundaries, emphasizing the importance of arts, history, and experiential learning, inspiring both students and educators to reach for the stars. In her spare time, she enjoys exploring historical sites and sharing her love of storytelling, believing that every lesson learned is a thread woven into the rich tapestry of life. With Deborah at the helm, Theatre Works Studio is not just a school; it’s a thriving community where curiosity and creativity are celebrated every day.

Gareth Davies

Gareth, originally from South Africa, is a passionate educator dedicated to enhancing communication skills through creative drama. He holds a Licentiates degree in Speech and Drama from Trinity College of London and UNISA and has over a decade of experience as a qualified speech and drama teacher. Founder of Theatre Works Studio, Gareth empowers young individuals to express themselves and build confidence.
Now residing in Columbia, Maryland, he continues to inspire young artists through engaging workshops and classes and trains educators to create enjoyable classroom experiences. His extensive background in directing and musical theatre includes managing productions for both adults and children, showcasing strong interpersonal skills and adaptability.
Gareth's directing talents are highlighted by productions such as "Let's Do the Time Warp Again," which won Best Musical in 2019, and "Stardust the Musical," awarded Best Musical in 2018. His work as a director, music director, and choreographer, including experience on cruise ships, has earned him recognition in the entertainment sector. Eager to leverage his skills in diverse roles, Gareth is committed to advancing his career in the performing arts.
